BRM Celebration Day 2012

Photographed in October 2012 by Jonathan Smith

It is known exactly how many people turned out on Sunday 7th October 2012 but the BRM 50th anniversary celebration was a resounding success, a worthy observance of the world championship victory in 1962. Crowd estimates have been put as high as 20,000 but no matter what the figure, the town was packed for the cavalcade of historic cars with grandstands full and the pavements lined with onlookers enjoying the spectacle of the town’s motor racing past, particularly the 1996 world champion Damon Hill at the wheel of Old Faithful, his father’s celebrated car, pictured above.
